Blocktorch secures $4.2 Million in seed funding.

Blocktorch is aweb3 firm that offers an observability platform for the decentralized stack. The firm’s platform covers all observability pillars to empower web3 developers to scale every decentralized function globally therefore, serving billions of users in a reliable way. The firm re-imagines the way developers build and maintain their decentralized applications while empowering software engineering teams to gain a more detailed understanding of their decentralized infrastructure including smart contracts and other components. This approach allows developers to troubleshoot and resolve anomalies in minutes.
Blocktorch is based in Berlin, Germany and was founded in 2022 by Gery Pollak and Amine Afia.

In a recent event, Blocktorch has secured $4.2 million in a seed funding round that was led by IDEO Colab Ventures – an Cambridge-based early-stage Venture Capital. The investment round also garnered participation from several investment firms including Speedinvest, RockawayX, Alchemy and Remote First Ventures. Other backers in the round include angel investors from United States, United Kingdom, Germany and France. They are Bryce Ferguson from Sequoia‘s Scout program, Charlie Songhurst, Simon Jones – CEO at Voltz Labs, Max Stoeckl, Felix Wolf and Henry Chen. The proceeds of this financing round will be utilized to grow Blocktorch’s engineering and commercial teams as well as launch the official first iteration(V1) of their product. The first version will be based on the feedback and insights acquired from the beta test.

The web3 sector has been experiencing tremendous growth in recent days with several decentralized applications, Layer 1 chains and Layer 2 protocols being rolled out. However, developers and users of this products as well as the tooling required in this sector is not keeping up with the pace of development. According to Gery Pollak, what the firm is doing is similar to the impact Datadog had on cloud development a decade ago. He further sated that through its infrastructure, engineers can get all the essential logs, metrics and traces they need easily without having to build time-consuming in-house tools themselves.

Joe Gerber, General Partner at IDEO Colab Ventures, has expressed sentiments that developers are in need of professional tooling in order to products, applications and protocols that scale with ease. He also added that data observability is critical to the maturity of web3 while noting that Blocktorch is leading the way to bringing the best in-class observability tooling to web3.

By providing the first end-to-end web3 observability platform, Blocktorch is on a mission to give web3 builders a big boost in their capabilities as engineers can get relevant information at the right time to keep their decentralized applications healthy.
